Who's Your Crawdaddy?

Let me just get you all up to date on last night first before I ramble about the day. Last night Lucas spent the night at Grandma's and Grandpa's house so I got a whole bed to myself. He slept most of the night in the crib, but then Grandma brought Lucas into the bed. She claimed he felt cold... I think she just wanted extra cuddle time with him. He did get the giggles when Grandpa started snoring.

Today was a very busy and fun day. We went fishing for crawdads. For those of you who do not know what they are, they are like miniature lobsters. You can fish for them in a little creek. We went with a bunch of friends from my home town. As we all know, Lucas LOVES the outdoors so this was perfect for him. He got to fish (well watch us fish), sit in the grass (real grass) and hang out with other little babies (girl babies). Kelly wondered if we believed in arranged marriages because her little baby girl, Teegan, is so precious and just a little younger than Lucas. I said why not. It was so nice to be outdoors during the middle of the day and not FRY. The weather is a perfect 85 degrees.
This is a picture of a crawdad.
It is a little lobster.

We did release them back into the water when we were done.
Lucas so excited to go fishing.
Of course we had to lather him in sunscreen before he could get out of the stroller first.

Her mom (Kelly) and I went to high school together and she teaches with my sister Shawna.

We found out crawdads like bacon a lot!

So much fun!

Hey... she has the same chubby cheeks as Lucas.

She is a good friend of the family.

Then Lucas played with his cousins, Rylie and Piper, for most of the afternoon. He also got lots of kisses from his golden retriever cousins, Buck and Buster, and from his boston terrier/pug cousin, Herbie. Lucas is such a fan of dogs. I don't think he will be afraid of any animal as he gets older. The dogs are very tolerant of Lucas pulling their ears, tails, hair... AND Lucas just laughs about it.

This evening we enjoyed a summertime favorite, Smore's. You really can't beat roasting a marshmallow over an open flame, letting it get a little burnt and folding it in graham cracker with chocolate. Too DELICIOUS! We even let Lucas have a little bit of roasted marshmallow. He truly couldn't get enough. This did lead to a little bit of wild, sugar induced behavior. BUT... it is summer and why not.

He couldn't get enough!
So yummy!
Do you see the marshmallow ALL OVER his face!

So far this trip to Colorado has been a blast. We miss Matt a ton and wish he could be here. We send him a lot of pictures throughout the day. More adventures to come throughout the weekend.
