San Diego Wrap Up

Our trip to San Diego was a blast. It flew by quickly, but we had a great time. I must say, it would have been impossible to take Lucas to San Diego if I didn't have my parents along on the trip. It is hard being 32 almost 33 weeks pregnant and taking care of a busy little boy. It was also nice that Matt's parents came too. They were all very helpful in the morning so that I could get ready. They would eat breakfast with Lucas.

It is hard to keep a 2-year old out of trouble in a hotel room. But we found some inventive ways to entertain the little man. We did bring toys, but there are so many other distractions in a hotel that you have to use the resources available.

The first one, is to unhook the phone so that he could "talk" to all of his friends, cousins, and aunts on the phone. He would drag the phone around the room. I really wish that I had taken a picture of this. He was adorable.

The second source of entertainment, was the microwave in the hotel room. He enjoyed pushing the buttons and saying the numbers. This bought us some time each morning while we got ready for the day.
One of the best was that Lucas would hide in the hotel closet. He would walk into it and close the doors. While he was closing the door, he would say, "See ya!" He thought he was hot stuff.

One of Lucas' favorite things was to push the buttons on the "alligator" also known as the elevator. As we would go up or down, he would say the numbers. He loved visiting the "alligator" every day.

On a separate note, it is really important to make sure that you put the very top safety latch across the top of the door... Especially since Grandma & Grandpa Johnson were just down the hall. He would open up the door, as much as he could, and shout down the hall for them.

Lucas was such a great little traveler and I couldn't have been more proud of him. He did great in the car on the way there and on the way home. He didn't have any meltdowns in the car ride until about an hour from the house. Lucas had a cough the whole time we were in San Diego, but on the last day it got really bad. On our way home he had a really bad coughing fit and ended up throwing up on himself. Poor little man! So we are very happy to be home where he can be in his element, relax and get better.
