Mikowash Strikes Again!

This year I think Lucas is starting to get the excitement of Christmas and Mikowash. Mikowash is a tradition in Matt's family where on the night of December 5th you set out a shoe under the tree. During the night, Mikowash (the Czechoslovakian St. Nicholas), delivers a gift and puts a rock in your shoe. The rock is to remind you that there is always room for improvement in your behavior. 

 You will notice that Matt received the biggest rock. Lucas had the smallest rock.

Lucas woke up in the morning and we took him downstairs to see what Mikowash had brought our sweet little boy. You could tell he was a little more excited about it this year!

 He walked strait over to the Christmas tree and was saying, "Shoe, shoe!" The first thing he spotted was the M&M guy that was in his shoe. He LOVES M&M's. Of course he wanted to eat them, but not for breakfast. Sorry little man. 

 Then he saw the present under the tree. He worked with his Daddy to tear off the paper. He couldn't wait to see what was in the package. 

 Big brother Husker wanted to help out. (Sorry the picture is a little blurry). A little boy who shall remain nameless changed the setting on the camera. 

 Lucas loved his little letter playset. He has played with it all night long. 

 Next was another cute present of a lion. As soon as Lucas opened it up, he started to "ROAR!" So cute! It also came with a cute little book about Christmas. We haven't quite mastered sitting still long enough to read it. But I am sure when he gets a little older, it will become a holiday tradition to read each year.

I love these family traditions. It shows the true meaning of the holiday spirit. Not so much about the gifts, but more about the meaning of being together as a family and remembering the different cultures.
