Baby Jail!

I know what you are thinking... Lucas is in JAIL!? No... but we have a new addition to our family room that serves a couple of purposes. The first is to contain the Little Man. Trust me, I know it is his time to explore his new world, learn new things, discover, and get into mischief. Sometimes a parent needs a break. There is only so much one can take of following him around from kitchen to hallway to living room to stairs to kitchen, etc... So we set up the good old pack 'n play. We don't just set him in there and let him be bored. We have loaded the thing with safe toys for him to stand on, crash on and throw. You would think it would be punishment, but he really does LOVE being in there. He will even crawl over to it and bang on it until we put him in. He can play in there for about 30 minutes. Lucas has a couple of favorite games. The first is peek a boo. Where he will hide behind the edge, then peek his head over and just start cracking up. The other is to palm his beach ball and then throw it against the side. Yes folks... I did say palm the beach ball. He has his dad's huge hands. This little talent makes Matt so happy.
If you were paying attention you would have recognized that I mentioned the pack 'n play has two purposes. The other purpose is for Husker time out. If you have met Husker, you know that he is a barker. Especially during dinner time. I know we are bad parents and should have trained him better. We are learning and we will do a better job with Lucas about begging during dinner time. So when Husker starts to bark during dinner, we put him in baby jail. He is QUIET. It is nice.
So if you have little children who having you racing around the house, please feel free to take our good parenting advice. If that is what you believe it to be. Set up the pack 'n play. Please don't judge us. Sometimes you just need to take a potty break and know that your little one isn't creating trouble.
