Macie Lynn Johnson

We are proud to announce our newest addition to the family! Our little girl, Macie Lynn Johnson. She was born at 12:33 pm on February 10, 2012. She weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces and was 17 3/4 inches long. She is perfect in every little way!

The delivery was wonderful. We checked in at 7:30 am and taken back to our room around 8:00. They started me on the antibiotics right away which was good since the Strep B. They didn't start me on the pitocin until 9:30. By 11:00 the contractions were one on top of the other. Oh... and again we were dealing with back labor and small pelvis. Such stubborn little children I have. Anyway, the nurse checked me and I was 6 cm dilated 80% effaced. At that point, we decided to get the epidural. I swear the epidural is more painful that the contractions!!! The epidural was put in around 11:17. The nurse said to take a little nap because when we woke up it would be time to have a baby. She was right. At 12:00 pm she woke us up and said it was time to have a baby! I was 10 cm, 100% effaced and the head was +2 gestation. Game On!

She called Dr. Weisert and at 12:20 we started pushing. It only took a few pushes and we had a wonderful little girl! Again, due to the narrow passage, the doctor had to turn her around and at one point her shoulder got caught. This made us a little nervous. Dr. Weisert was afraid that we might have broken her collar bone, but she started moving both of her arms. YAY! The other little complication was that her cord was around her neck which made her a little purple. But the NICU nurse did a fantastic job of working on her to make her cry. Again, we were in the clear! Other than those few things, it was the perfect delivery!

I really couldn't have asked for a better day or a better coach. Again, Matt did a wonderful job of being there and encouraging me through the whole thing. He cut the umbilical cord. He wasn't able to call the sex of the baby because of all of the little things going on at the same time, but he is one proud Daddy of a baby girl! She is just PERFECT!

Here is Macie getting checked and making sure her arm starts to move.
You can see how purple she was.

Her first hat.
No longer purple.
She looks like Lucas, only a girl version.
Macie's first bath.
Not much of a fan.

My little girl!

Proud Papa!

The most wonderful doctor!
Dr. Weisert really is the best.
Our labor and delivery nurse, Jen.
She took really good care of us.
Lucas checking out his little sister.
He wasn't too sure what to make of all of it.
I think he was more concerned about Mommy and all of the wires that were sticking out of me.
He is going to be a great Big Brother!
The grandma's couldn't wait to meet their new granddaughter.
Grandma Johnson and Macie.
Grandma Fildes and Macie.
The world's best Big Brother.
He loved playing with her fingers and giving her kisses.
He also loved playing with his portable basketball hoop that his Aunt Lori gave him for a little entertainment in the hospital!
