So here is the last blog about our Colorado vacation. Now in the previous blog I mentioned how much fun we had outdoors. I did leave out some critical information. Lucas had a lot of fun, but he also got a little sick. Well... I am totally lying. He got really sick.
It all started the day we went to Casa Bonita.
Here are a couple of pictures the last time we went to Casa Bonita. Lucas was only 5 months old at the time. This time he wasn't sick. He had a lot of fun hanging out with the whole family.
This time he wasn't feeling to great. He had a little cold and just didn't want to play, eat or enjoy the shows. He just wanted to be held or stay in his stroller.
It is a good thing he had his cousins to make him feel better. They are always there to hang out with him and have a good laugh.
Here is one of the shows that we thought he would love to watch.
Unfortunately, he just wanted to be held the whole time by Mommy.
He was a trooper though. We even played a couple of games and went through the haunted cave. But he just wanted to be cuddled.
You can tell that he just isn't feeling all that great. Poor little man.
That should have been our first warning. The trick about traveling with Lucas, is that it is important to take all of his asthma medicine just in case. Well, it was a good thing I remembered to pack it because we had to use it. That night, I knew he wasn't feeling great and he needed a dose of his inhaler. He HATES it, but it works. The only problem was that it was more than a cold. In the morning he downed a sippy of milk. STUPID. Because about 20 minutes later the sippy of milk made a surprise visit... All over me! It was awful. The smell was the worst. I started gagging. The saying that when it is your own child, you won't notice it IS A BIG FAT LIE! I did contain my own problems and quickly gave him a bath and handed him off to my mom so that I could shower. Once it was all over, he was back to playing basketball. He just had to let it loose.
After that day of rest, we were ready to have some fun!
We went to our favorite zoo, the Denver Zoo!
Lucas is doing such a great job of telling you the names of the animals and the sounds that they make. But the zebra sound stumped him and me. I don't know what a zebra says so I made it up. I decided to make a clicking sound and Lucas thought it was so funny. Now if you ask him what a zebra says, he will click his tongue.
Lucas loves the Polar Bears... Unfortunately there wasn't a polar bear to be seen. But that didn't stop him from staring at the water and roaring like a bear.
"Mom, where is the bear?"
Can't go to the zoo without taking a picture with the cousins.
Unfortunately our favorite picture spot was under construction so we were testing out a couple of new spots. The first was this bench in front of the construction.
My own little animal trying to climb into the exhibits.
A backpack leash isn't a bad idea... Just saying.
Oh wait, he is learning it from his cousins.
The seals were a hit. As well as Lucas making a seal sound.
So cute!
Lucas and his Grandpa ("Boppa") Fildes.
Such great buds.
We went to the zoo for an early Father's Day!
You just can't go to the zoo and not ride on the carrousel.
He had a blast once he got on the ride. Not so patient waiting his turn.
Who can blame him though. It looks like so much fun!
And now we encounter his favorite zoo animal of all time.
The monkeys.
He is laughing so hard!
But we can't take a trip to the zoo without visiting our friend "Joe" the gorilla.
Look at how he is laying in there. It is like he is saying, "Hey ladies. What to come to my place and swing with me?" He definitely is "Joe" Cool.
This was our other attempt at finding another picture spot.
Lucas enjoyed every minute of the trip playing with Rylie ("Ryee") and Piper ("Pipper").
These are memories that he will have his whole life.
I am glad that he gets to play with his cousins and they can be such great friends.
We just want to say a HUGE thank you to my parents, sisters and nieces.
We love that we get to come and visit you.
Even though it can be an adventure for sure!
On the plane ride home, Lucas got his own seat since it was an empty flight.
He loved every minute of it, except for the safety talk when he had to sit in my lap for take off.
Sorry to all of the people who had to listen to him scream.
But hey, he is only 19 months old and he did great the rest of the flight!
