What About Lucas...

I am sure some of you are saying... What about Lucas? What has he been up to. How is preschool going? How much does he love his sister?

Well, I guess it is about time I blog about my little man. And a little MAN he is. Since he has started preschool, he seems to have aged A LOT! He is so much more independent. This is two-fold independence because he thinks he can do everything all by himself. Most of the time this is true. But then there are things where he still needs adult assistance (getting food out of the pantry that he is allowed to eat, turning on the play.station, loading dvds into the dvd player...). Things that we do love about his new found sense of independence include running to the potty all by himself (when he wants to), putting on his backpack and carrying his lunchbox, hanging up his backpack when we get home, etc.

Another favorite thing that he has learned since attending preschool include his new favorite word, "NO!" Don't get me wrong he has said this word before, but it was very rare. We rarely used the word "No" at our house unless it was something dangerous that he shouldn't be doing. That way he knew that "No, meant, No!" Well, at school he must hear it a lot either from the students or the teacher. Who knows. But now he says it all of the time. Even when he doesn't mean it. For instance, Lucas do you want to go outside? "No." Lucas do you want to go to Target? "No." Even though he does want to do these things. He does say the word when he means it too. Lucas do you want to get dressed? "No." Lucas do you need to go potty? "No!!!" Lucas do you want to go to bed? "NO!!!!!" So much fun!

Another favorite saying lately, "Shake your booty!" He loves to say this when he is playing on Star.fall and we are listening to the songs because he wants Macie to shake her booty. It is pretty funny!

Also, to keep this little man busy, we are working on his golf game. Not because we are forcing him, but because he really LOVES to golf. He can play it for hours. Either outside in our backyard, on the actual golf course or Tiger Woods Golf play.station game. He is really fascinated with the game. In fact, he got new yellow golf balls because he filled up his potty chart and that is what he chose as a reward. He really has a great swing for a 2 (almost 3) year old. It is pretty impressive.

Practicing his chip shot with Daddy at Del Lago.
We go there at least once a week.
Macie likes to hang out and watch the boys.
One day she will get to join in on the action.
Look at that concentration and follow through!
The next two pictures crack me up because Lucas and Matt are in sink with their golfing technique. They really are two-of-a-kind.
They are both lining up their balls...

Now they both have hit the ball and are watching their shot...
Seriously. They are in sink.
Another favorite part of being in preschool includes a home visit from his teacher, Ms. Terry. He had a lot of fun when she came to the house. Although he was VERY quiet. He is never quiet. He showed her his room, they played hoops, they played golf, they watched the Slam Dunk Contest, he read his Hoop Book to her. It was sweet to see how he interacted with her.

Lucas and Ms. Terry.
To finish out the blog to update you on Lucas. He really enjoys going to preschool. There were a couple of days when he would cry when we dropped him off (well, when Grandma or Uncle Wayne dropped him off), but he hasn't cried in a couple of weeks now. He walks right in, signs in (scribbles) on the sign in sheet, walks into class saying, "Ms. Terry's ducks," hangs up his backpack, puts his snack in the bucket and puts his name away and his picture to show he is at school. Then he goes right into free play. He really has grown up. Sometimes it is nice, but then there are times when I miss how little he used to be.

Here is some of his artwork from preschool.
Golf ball painting.
A favorite!

Water color painting.
More golf ball painting.

And I must not forget to tell you how much he does love his little sister. He loves her so much he has done the following things for (to) her.
1. He gives her a bottle until he gets bored with it. "All done. Your turn Mommy."
2. He feeds her cereal until he gags her and then I take over.
3. He lets (and I mean lets) her sit in the Bum.bo until he feels that it is her turn and then he dumps her out of the seat onto her head. Not one of his best moments. Luckily Macie didn't cry. She just rolled right over and started to play.
4. He takes a bath with her and loves to make her laugh. "Macie laugh. Macie laugh." Although he does try to dump water on her head all of the time. "Macie wash hair." Oh yeah, Macie wash hair. Poor girl probably has the cleanest hair in town.
***Please note for #3 & 4, I am there to supervise. She has never been hurt.***
 5. He loves to play basketball with her which means that I hold Macie and we pretend to play defense. He thinks that this is hysterical.
But most of all he really does love Macie. If she is crying he feels bad and sometimes cries himself. I think they are really going to be best friends. I also think she is going to torture him when she gets older and gets a little revenge on him. Of course, they are siblings and it wouldn't be brotherly or sisterly love if there wasn't a little of that.

Macie was crying in the car and Lucas asked if he could feed Macie her bottle
Such a great Big Brother!
