Beach Babies!

For the last few years, we have been taking a mini vacation to San Diego during the Winter Break. It is more of a vacation for the kids and me since Matt is busy with the San Diego basketball tournament. The whole reason for going to San Diego is for basketball and we tag along. Don't worry, we went to all but one of his games. 

The kids were great travelers. I really couldn't have asked for better kids in the car. Lucas was content with playing on the i.Pad or watching movies and Macie watched a lot of Mickey on the i.Pad. She fussed for maybe 20 minutes the whole time. So when we arrived in San Diego, we headed to the beach before going to Matt's basketball game. The kids needed some fresh air and Lucas needed to run around. 

We took them to this little beach, but what does my son spot... A basketball court and hoop. Then he saw a playground. We have the whole beach, ocean, sand and my son wants to play basketball and play on the playground. Goodness! It took a few minutes of play before we convinced him to head to the ocean and beach.

It didn't work. He played and went down the slides a few times.

Finally we made it to the beach. Just look at this view. So beautiful! 

Lucas had a blast playing in the sand and of course we had a football with us. So Matt and Lucas played a little catch on the beach.

We weren't sure how Macie was going to do. At first she was a little sad. But once we took her out of the carrier and sat her in the sand, she had a smile from ear-to-ear.

Even Grandma couldn't make her happy... And she usually does.

She loved playing with the sand and watching it slip through her fingers.

These are some of my favorite pictures from the trip. They are so happy being outside. It really is their element. Just love these kids!
