It is hard to believe that Lucas is going into PreK in just a few short weeks. It just seems like the other day when we were taking him to his very first day of preschool. And now he has completed his second year of preschool. Time sure does fly by at a very rapid speed. Here are some of the highlights from the last part of the school year for Lucas!
Lucas loves field trips and the preschool takes a lot of mini-field trips which is so nice. Lucas loves riding the bus and seeing new places. One of the bummers of these mini-field trips is that they don't really take parents on them. So I have to live vicariously through the pictures that his teacher emails out.
Here are some pictures from his field trip to the Rincon Fire Station. Lucas had a great time and the even got to spray the fire hose. That might have been one of his favorite parts of the field trip.
Another favorite part of Lucas' preschool year was getting to be on the t-ball team. Every other Wednesday after school Lucas got to go and play t-ball. He is quite the natural player. Some of the practices were held with the girl's softball team. He is quite the ladies man with those girls!

Lucas also enjoys all of the science experiments that they do in class. He definitely has a imaginative mind and enjoys dissecting and figuring out how things work. Here is a picture that his teacher sent to us showing how proud Lucas was of his science experiment. They made flubber!
Here is another field trip to a sensory park that he took with his class. This one parents were allowed to attend, but unfortunately it was during State testing time and that is my busiest time of the year and I couldn't take the day off. I think the saddest part for me was that he didn't have someone to eat lunch with. I know he had his friends, but he didn't have his Mommy. Luckily he didn't mind going with out me and had a great time. We were also lucky because it was right by Grandma Johnson's house and she picked him up from the park.
The last highlight of this preschool year was the Spring Performance. He is such a great performer and has such a great time singing and dancing! I love every minute of the show.

| Macie had to join in on the action... She also insisted on bringing her purse to the show. What are we going to do with that little girl? |
Overall Lucas had a great year and we are so thankful that he had such a wonderful teacher! We couldn't have asked for a better match for him. She challenged him and loved him just like he needs. He has grown so much academically and socially because of her. Yes, we work with him at home, but there is nothing like a teacher touch to bring out his capabilities.
Here are some of his academic and social accomplishments that he got out of this year:
1. Lucas can count fluently from 0-500 forward.
2. He can count backward from 100.
3. He can skip count by 2's.
4. He has great one-to-one number correspondence and can make models to show those numbers.
5. He know every letter and their sounds.
6. He can read over 100 sight words.
7. He can read at a kindergarten level with little assistance from us. And he enjoys reading. Quite often he will pick up a book and read it by himself. Every once in awhile he will need us to help with a word or two.
8. Lucas has learned to work well with other students besides his best friend. This is a huge accomplishment from last year when he would only work with his best friend.
9. We can understand his speech a lot more because of the dedication and hard work from his teacher and the speech teacher that comes into the class each week.
10. Lucas truly enjoys going to school every morning and being with Ms. Jill.
