Potty Training Patrol... Again!

So it is that time again... Time to start potty training Macie. This can be one of the most challenging parts of being a parent. When I potty trained Lucas we tried this "Potty Training in 3 Days!" It was very stressful. You are constantly on "potty watch." You are not supposed to leave the home, they are not allowed to use pull ups and they are to tell you when they need to go potty.

Well, we are going a little more relaxed this time with Macie. We are still doing the basics. We boxed up the diapers. Big Brother wanted to help of course. So she is officially not wearing diapers any more.

While we are home, she wears panties and we are on "potty watch." But if we want to leave the house, we leave the house. And you better believe we put her in a pull up. During nap and bedtime, she wears a pull up as well. I am not ready to start changing wet bed sheets in the middle of the night or have her wake up from nap early because her sheets are wet. She needs her sleep... And I need mine! Someday we will make that transition. Just not yet.

Seriously... How cute are these little girl panties!
The only issue with Macie that was different from Lucas is that she is shorter than Lucas was at this age. Lucas was tall enough to climb up on the potty using a stool. Little Miss Macie is NOT tall enough to do this. So that meant we needed to purchase a potty. Not one of my favorite things and definitely not one of Matt's favorite things. It just adds in a couple of extra steps for Mommy and Daddy. But if it helps her to be successful... We will add in those steps. Not to mention, Lucas had to try out the potty chair. The other good thing about the potty chair is that I can have it out in the family room. I am sure this goes against many potty training rules, but it allows me to keep an eye on her and her brother. You don't want to turn your back for too long with Lucas. Just saying.

Macie is doing pretty good at going potty. Trust me, she has had accidents. Which means I have done a lot of laundry during this process. She is starting to recognize when she has to go, when she has had an accident and when she has been successful! Macie loves to stand up right after and clap for herself! Very cute! Lucas loves to cheer for her as well. Even cuter! He has probably been the best encourager for her. So please say a little prayer that we can get her "mostly" potty trained before our Spring Break in March. We are hoping to go on a trip and to have her potty trained by then. Fingers crossed!

Macie loves to entertain herself while sitting on the potty chair.

Such a Big Girl!
